Augsburg Fortress

Written during the COVID-19 pandemic when musical flexibility was a necessity, this highly adaptable anthem by Brenda Portman sets a familiar hymn text to the well-loved TALLIS’ CANON. The music begins in unison with additional parts added in canon per stanza, up to four parts optionally. The organ accompaniment beautifully supports the canon and adds depth to the anthem.  An accessible yet impressive anthem for choirs of any size and useful throughout the year, particularly during Epiphany.
