The Road to Damascus

The Road to Damascus

A gentle and expressive piece for SATB and piano, this anthem begins with a setting for solo voice of an introspective poem by Barbara Davis-Pyles (who wrote the words for Come Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace). Speaking in first person as St. Paul, the poet dramatizes the profound nature of the apostle's conversion. A refrain crafted on the first stanza of 'Amazing Grace' serves as a poignant reconciliation. While originally composed to observe the Feast of the Conversion of Paul, this wonderful work is well suited to the season of Lent.
