Composer Commentary

I’ve been meaning to pull together a new organ collection for some time, and finally sat down to do it. I enjoy trying some new things, and this collection includes a canon at the 9th (included in a crazy setting of LYONS) along with some more conventional pieces. I also like to write on hymns that don’t already have a ton of preludes, so this collection includes works based on hymns like BLAENWERN and ROMEDAL. And to take that even farther, I’m trying out writing on hymns unknown to most people—two with texts by Susan Briehl and one with a text by Susan Palo Cherwien, along with a new setting of “The day of resurrection!” I hope they’re useful.
