Composer Commentary

The arrangements in Wassail! originated at the jubilant, annual carol party at the Saint Paul home of Louise Miner and Robert Wilcox, long-standing members of the Minnesota Chorale. Their party typically includes several hours of enthusiastic carol singing, but for the gathering time I’ve written many of the arrangements in this collection, refining them over the years. Some of the settings are easy, several will be a challenge, but all will offer a fresh perspective for the player who enjoys pianistic textures, historical references and a little humor.
