Composer Commentary

As we approach the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we give thanks for the emphasis that the Lutheran church puts on congregational singing, and for the gift of these chorale tunes which are now sung in many denominations. In 2013, five of these seven arrangements were commissioned by Yollanda Bornhoff when she served as Director of Music at United Lutheran Church in Oak Park, Illinois. This “Reformation Suite” was performed at a concert which was followed by a German dinner in the fellowship hall.
