As Iraq struggles to establish a sustainable democracy, "Peace, Conflict and Public Church: A Case Study on the Future of Iraq" will be a crucial guide for Lutheran congregations to discuss difficult issues related to the war in Iraq. The guide is divided into five sessions: moral deliberation, role of nations, current situation in Iraq and on U.S. policy, challenge of global terrorism, and group reflection.
Each session includes discussion questions and is designed to be used in a group setting for consecutive weeks. A full week between each session allows participants to reflect and prepare for the upcoming session, learn through outside sources, and take additional action as decided upon within the group. "Peace, Conflict and Public Church: A Case Study on the Future of Iraq" may also be used in a variety of other settings, such as a retreat, where time may not permit a week-long interval.
