Who Is on Your Firelight II Team?

Firelight brings learners of all ages together with activities that help everyone learn and grow in faith.
  • Age-Level Leader The Age-Level Leader has primary responsibility for a group of learners at a particular age. Each week he or she introduces kids to a Bible story and then guides them through several engaging encounters with the story. Age-Level Leaders need copies of the pages in this book marked "Everyone" and "Age-Level Leaders." Most critically, this person establishes a personal relationship with each learner that carries over sessions and weeks together.

  • Deeper Learning Leader
The Deeper Learning Leader has primary responsibility for a Deeper Learning area: Art, Computers, Drama, Food, Games, Music, Puppets, Science, Storytelling, or Video/DVD. This person, who has a special gift or interest in the area, sets up Bible story-related activities that kids of various ages can explore for 20-40 minutes. Deeper Learning Leaders need copies of the pages in this book marked "Everyone" and "Deeper Learning Leaders." These leaders get to share their gifts and faith creatively with groups of eager learners.

  • Firelight Coordinator
A true rotation-model Sunday school usually takes the commitment of someone who can manage people, time, space, and materials effectively. The Coordinator ensures that all leaders are on schedule and have the appropriate Firelight leader and learner reproducible pages, posters, and music CDs. The Coordinator can also share the Firelight excitement through regular updates in the congregation's bulletins, newsletters, and Web site.

  • Your Congregation
Firelight is designed to involve many members of your church in the faith-formation process. Invite all congregation members to pray for Firelight learners, leaders, and families. Expect adults who have never thought of themselves as Sunday school teachers to thrive on this fresh approach. Many churches invest time, money, and energy remodeling building spaces to accommodate Deeper Learning needs. Help learners show their appreciation by teaching them to take good care of equipment and resources.

  • Firelight Families
Families are your partners in the faith-formation adventure. Parents and guardians seek support for helping their kids grow in faith, and they will notice how easy it is to get their kids to Firelight Sunday school. Make sure to provide the Catechism Tunes music CD and appropriate Reproducible Home Pages each week to facilitate families learning together.

  • Firelight Learners
With Firelight, kids are definitely on the team! Discipline problems disappear when exciting experiences engage their learning styles and make Bible stories come alive. Learners share their insights, ideas, and creativity when they present a drama, serve food to others, and display their art. Also look for unexpected ways that Firelight learners will share their stories with others!
