No Experience Neccessary

The Approach

GOD IS ON A MISSION. This is the key theme for the entire No Experience Necessary series. God is on a mission to love, bless, and save the world. And we're called to take part in this mission. No experience is necessary to do this. God calls each of us, and God qualifies each of us.

READ THE BIBLE AND LISTEN FOR GOD. God speaks to us through the Bible and each other. The most important part of the Bible study happens when group members read the Bible for themselves, listen for God speaking, and talk about what they have heard. This discussion focuses on three questions about the Bible passage:

  1. What do you think God is doing here?
  2. What do you hear God saying to you, personally?
  3. What do you hear God saying to us?

Each session also includes supporting articles that shed light on the Bible reading through additional texts, tools for biblical interpretation, discussion questions, and personal stories.

EVERYBODY HAS SOMETHING TO OFFER. Whatever your age, background, or experience, you can listen for God and offer something to the Bible study and your group — you can tell about what you heard in the Bible reading and offer your knowledge about the Bible, literature, or ancient history; ability to make people feel welcome; skill for keeping conversation going; questions; prayers; etc. All of these are gifts to share!

EVERYBODY HAS SOMETHING TO LEARN. God speaks to each of us through the Bible, right here, right now. The Bible is God's living Word, so each time we read it, we can learn something new – even from a passage we've read many times before!

Because everybody has something to offer and something to learn, there is no leader for this Bible study. A facilitator welcomes everybody, gets the conversation started, and keeps it going. (Group members can take turns doing this, if you wish.) Everybody comes ready to talk and ready to listen.
