These free events have been developed for the continuing education of today's church musician. Held in a variety of locations across the nation, these events provide opportunities for church musicians to network, learn and be inspired.
Each clinic features a variety of choral, organ, and piano reading sessions to help plan for the coming season (check out the
music planning calendar). Our expert clinicians offer valuable insights and ideas to help participants explore ways to revitalize and refresh worship in their local settings.

Highben - Be Not Afraid - Renaissance Music and the church Choir
There is a wealth of Renaissance choral music that is suitable for church choirs and appropriate for worship use. Yet, at
first glance, Renaissance music can appear daunting and unachievable. This workshop will present rationales for programming Renaissance music and strategies for teaching it. Particular attention will be given to repertoire appropriate for smaller choirs. Examples will be drawn from the Augsburg MotetBook, the Chantry Choirbook, and other resources. |
Brillhart - Breaking Free - Improvisation at the Organ
It IS possible to learn to improvise! Using examples from his textbook, Breaking Free - Improvisation at the Organ, we will explore ways of incorporating simple improvisations into services with a special focus on music for Holy Communion. |

Highben - Rehearsal Strategies/Warm-ups
As choral directors, how we structure our rehearsals is just as important as the repertoire we choose. This session will examine strategies to strengthen your singers' vocal development and enhance their ability to learn new music. Warm-up sequences, rehearsal planning, and time management will be discussed. Selected pieces from the choral reading sessions will be used to demonstrate various teaching techniques.

Brillhart - Singing for Life - Making Music with a Growing Senior Community
There is no reason to stop singing in one’s senior years! Older adults singing in a choral setting show significant health improvements that include fewer doctor visits, less incidence of depression, better posture, improved physical coordination and overall improvement in well being. Learn how to start a choral program for your seniors! Breathing exercises, warm-ups, repertoire, and management of the program will be discussed.
