Biographies

Maggie Akhavan is the Special Order Sales and Service Representative at Augsburg Fortress. Previously, Maggie served as the music specialist at Luther Seminary Bookstore, in St. Paul, Minn. for six years, before taking on the responsibilities related to Worship Arts at Augsburg Fortress in 2005.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Civilization from Randolph-Macon Woman's College (Lynchburg, VA). A free-lance church musician in the Twin Cities, Maggie has been a member of Kantorei Chamber Choir since 1995. Kantorei is a high quality cappella choir ensemble that strives to perform works outside the mainstream, focusing on seldom-heard 19th and 20th-century European compositions. Maggie is an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids, MN. where she has taught Sunday School music, played hand bells, participated in the Chancel Choir and has provided offertories for the past 15 years.

Martin Seltz is Publisher for Worship and Music at Augsburg Fortress, responsible for coordinating the publishing program that develops primary worship resources such as Evangelical Lutheran Worship and its surrounding family, worship planning resources such as Sundays and Seasons, vocal and instrumental music resources, the Web-based resource Sundays and Seasons.com, and other resources supporting the worship life of congregations in the ELCA and beyond. Martin served as a pastor in Livonia, Michigan for fifteen years, and as a church musician he has served several congregations, currently serving at Christ Church Lutheran, Minneapolis.

Robert Buckley Farlee is Senior Editor for Worship and Music at Augsburg Fortress, where he has been centrally involved in the preparation of Evangelical Lutheran Worship. He is also one of the cantors at Christ Church Lutheran, Minneapolis, a pastor, a composer, and is just completing a term as president of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.
